I am a relatively recent transplant to California, having grown up in Vermont and attended college in Massachusetts. I studied History of Science and Geology at Harvard University, and my previous work has been as an outdoor teacher and guide. My love of rocks, ecology, and welcoming people to the outside took me to Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, where I worked for four years as a glacier guide, and then to the Gila Wilderness of the American Southwest, where I worked as an instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School. Ihave also has trained as a pastry cook and line cook at restaurants in Cambridge and Berkeley.
When not attending to business at the Edible Schoolyard, I enjoy jogging around the Berkeley Marina, sharpening kitchen knives by traditional methods, or enjoying a cup of coffee and the Sunday New York Times.
