Profile

I am currently a Chef Teacher at The Edible Schoolyard Berkeley. As a native of the east bay area I have always enjoyed cooking and eating. I studied biology at Williams College in rural, western Massachusetts. Surrounded by small organic farms producing incredible vegetables, meats, and cheeses I found myself with half a pig in the freezer and a weekly CSA box. After seeing the farms and people behind those foods I dove into the sustainable food movement and helped start an organic garden and food advocacy group on campus. Since graduating in 2011 I have gained professional cooking experience in restaurants in New York and the Tahoe area. Throughout my time in college I worked with youth as both a tutor and swim instructor. I am thrilled to be at The Edible Schoolyard because my position combines my love of teaching with my passion for food and cooking.

 

In my spare time I love to ski, snowboard, bike, surf, and generally enjoy the outdoors. My preferred indoor activities include cooking, baking, roasting coffee, and reading.
