About the Program:

School gardens are a wonderful way to use gardening time as a classroom, reconnect students with the natural world and the true source of their food, and teach them valuable gardening and agricultural concepts and skills that integrate with several subjects such as math, science, art, health and physical education while encouraging an understanding of personal and social responsibility. This project will promote healthy lifestyle skills while relating educational goals to the common core and relevant elementary school curriculum. The goal is to provide a space to be designed, used, maintained, and enjoyed by students with the help of teachers, parents, and other volunteers. We plan to design a garden that provides a positive, safe environment where students are taught to reinforce the pre-established learning goals of the school community. The overall vision is to give students the knowledge, opportunities, and expert resources they need to help design, build, and maintain a healthy garden. This program is supported by .
