About the Program:

Something Good in the World is a grass roots environmental educational organization, which operates as a public charity under section 501c3 of the IRS code.

SGITW offers ongoing farm-based education programs for children of all ages, as well as for adults, families, parents, and teachers.  Our workshops focus on backyard farming, child-size organic gardening, alternative energy projects, and sustainable living practices.  Our goal is to nurture the natural genius in every child, to keep the channels of learning open, to offer alternatives to mainstream education, and to provide health and nutrition education that explores every aspect of what it means to live sustainably and promote permaculture.

Our educational approach is totally hands-on, experiential, nature-based, arts-integrated, and whole body, all around sensory learning.  We work primarily with underserved and high needs school districts, children from disadvantaged circumstances, youth-at-risk, inner city schools, special needs students, and homeschoolers.

SGITW receives support from individuals, foundations, and local businesses to make our programming free or extremely low cost, whenever possible. Our projects include: Earth School, the Blue Star Youth Movement, Sounds Good, Turtle Island, and the Backyard Farmer.
