About the Program:

The mission of the Alameda Boys & Girls Club is to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. We involve young boys and girls in wholesome activities that build their self-esteem and self-worth. We teach the values of responsibility and respect. The Seed to Table Program is a key part in providing Health & Life Skills, emphasizing learning by doing and critical thinking. The Club built Italo's Garden to provide a space for at-risk kids to plant seeds and watch them grow. Produce not eaten right off the plants is taken inside for transformation by our Get Cooking program.

The Seed to Table program partners with three local public schools to provide more youth access to Italo's Garden and the Club kitchen, elective classes all taught by our Director. Project based learning is paramount and hands on experience is highly valued at all three: Nea and Alameda Community Learning Centers and Island High School.
