About the Program:

Sagamore Hills Elementary School's S.T.E.M. Garden program was developed to give our students the opportunity to put the knowledge gained in the classroom to work in a real world environment. Having them leave the confines of the traditional classroom and get out into nature has proven to be the optimal environment for the best hands-on, experiential learning to happen. Every component of our program not only correlates and compliments the state required curriculum but expands upon it, allowing our students' natural curiosities, imagination, and ingenuity to take flight. We pride ourselves on being firmly rooted in our commitment to this mission, "To establish a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning."

What makes our school so unique is the diverse parent and student body we serve. We are nestled in a quaint little community inside the perimeter of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. We have families representing a plethora of beautiful ethnicities from all over the world. Transitioning families have peace of mind knowing that our well established English to Speakers of Other Languages(ESOL), Special Educations (SE) and Gifted (G) programs access and support every individual need of our students. As a result, our International Night celebration is one of the most highly anticipated events. This humble exchange of one of the most basic human needs, FOOD, unifies everyone. Our garden efforts do the exact same thing! Teaching the children how to grow many of the healthy items we serve in our school cafeteria and in daily food preparations at home further connects us. The children get so involved and comfortable that they just open up, releasing any anxieties. Simply put, LEARNING becomes FUN!
