About the Program:

Sabot at Stony Point's GROW - The Community Garden Project is a working garden where children Preschool - 8th grade from Sabot or the Greater Richmond Community can work with our GROW team doing all the work in the garden. We bring our emerging curriculum into the garden. All decisions and plans are made with the kids. As a group we do all the the work in the garden including building beds, planting, harvesting, etc. We have grown from 2 raised beds to 16 4' by 8' beds full of vegetables, fruits and flowers. We take advantage of Richmond's temperate climate and garden year round. When we harvest, we hold fund raising farm stands putting the money raised back into the garden. We cook with the kids exposing them to some new foods and ways of preparing them. It is great to see them love the vegetables we grow.
