About Us

Our school garden was founded at the start of the  2015-16  school year.  Our initial funding for the installation of our garden came from the Whole Kids Foundation School Garden Grant as well as a donation of organic soil and mulch from The Scott's Miracle-Gro Company.

Our garden consists of 10 raised beds where students in grades K-6 plant and nurture edible herbs and vegetables from seed to harvest. Together with our PTA, we organize weekend garden day events where families can come to enjoy some quality time working in the garden!

Our after-school club garden club maintains the garden, while learning valuable skills about growing fruits and vegetables. In turn, they take the skills learned back to their families where hopefully they will plant fresh produce in their own backyards.

We have recently been fortunate to receive support from The Joseph P. Cory Foundation's Garden of Hope, with donations of seedlings, mulch, t-shirts and garden gloves. Mrs. Nada Cory, assisted by Mrs. Lisa Richman, visit the garden club several times a year to teach a lesson, read a story and provide fun activities related to nutrition. The students also learn to prep simple recipes to incorporate fresh produce grown on our campus, such as kale salad, basil pesto and salsa using fresh tomatoes and cilantro.

Below you will find highlights of some of the past events that have helped our students understand the connection between eating healthy and being healthy. Many local stores and restaurants have helped to make these events memorable for our students and their families. We are grateful to the support of our community, including The Healthy Me program through the generous support of The Breakers Hotel, Palm Beach, sponsored by Local Ecopia.  Bedners Farmers Market of Delray Beach and Boynton Beach donated fresh grown produce for our Kids in the Kitchen event led by Chef Luis Asturias, Jr. from HMS Host Ft. Lauderdale, where the kids were led through a lesson in prepping a rainbow of fresh veggies to create a healthy lunch! We also thank Fresh Market for providing the groceries needed to complete the recipe.  These supporters have generously given their time to host various events where students get to create dishes using our harvest to learn how delicious freshly grown produce can taste.

Please contact us if you can help bring more days like these to our students.
