About the Program:

We call ourselves The Edible Era Scholars We are an afterschool program that meets twice a week for our Chef and Garden club. Each week we are cooking or tending to our 10 raised beds at New Era Academy in Cherry Hill, Maryland. We only create vegetarian foods and use fresh herbs and vegetables from our garden. We also make Herbal soaps using the herbs we grow in our garden. We have extended our club to residences of the community of all ages

We also have created a Wellness Healing garden where students can create artwork to honor a lost loved one. This project was in honor of one of our students who was tragically killed in a car accident. Its called "Shazya's Healing Garden". We create mosaic stones to honor loved ones in the community.

We are currently writing a cookbook that has all our secret recipes to share with everyone! This coming April 2014 we will be installing a Thomas Hybrid Honeybee Hive..

On September 20, 2012, Ms. Alice Waters visited our school!!  We had a Garden Party. We were so excited! She gave us fruit trees and we planted them all!  We have so much fun in the garden and will soon be planting garlic! We incorporate all curriculum subjects in our afterschool club. We are thankful and so excited about all the attention Ms. Waters gave our school!  We will not let her down. We have so much planned for ourselves and our Edible Era Scholars Lunch Lab. Next stop to reform the cafeteria lunches all over!!

In the Spring of 2014 we will be installing our Honeybee Hive!!

Herbally Yours,

The Edible Era Scholars
