About the Program:

It takes a village to raise respectable, ambitious, intelligent, generous and well-rounded children. Public school educators are a huge part of this village, who need to be nimble in providing access to these fundamentals both in a traditional classroom environment and in a more organic setting.  Having an edible schoolyard is a key variable in this equation.

Fueling children through their bellies and their brains in order to cultivate, nurture, maintain, understand the applied science and lifestyle skills required to successfully grow is imperative in their personal educational evolution. Ultimately, influencing if not causing a paradigm shift in their lives through their approach to eating, tackling life problems by becoming more resourceful and healthier human beings.

Most educators have a diverse set of demographics that can be in their classroom during any one given year. Seeing their classroom children go to grab their lunch boxes only to return to line with a full size, large bag of chips, gummy bears or something else that is absolutely unhealthy, larger than needed portions is hugely discouraging to their overall wellbeing. Unfortunately, cafeteria healthier choices are still not fully embraced by children due to several pit falls in the current system. Which is why it is so important to take steps in the right direction to strengthen our village. While change may take time to grow, when it’s done right, it can be a beautiful thing.
