About the Program:

Laboratorios para la Vida (Laboratories for Life) or Labvida is an action research project based in Chiapas, Mexico which centers on delivering a course titled 'Alimentación, Comunidad y Aprendizaje' (Food, Community and Learning) with adult educators working with different age groups in a variety of environments. This course focuses on local agro-food systems, agroecology, interncultural dialogue, and constructivist pedagogy, using the edible school garden as a place for exchange between the school and the surrounding community. The course promotes an educational model in which children and young people become researchers and actores in their own agro-food surroundings, using a variety of activities to carry out baseline and experiments which are easily linked to the official curriculum for diverse ages and subjects.

Labvida also support the local Chiapas edible school gardens network, and participates in the (hispanic) International Edible School Gardens Network.
