About the Program:

Growing Healthy Habits is a gardening and nutrition education curriculum for elementary school classrooms that was developed by the University of Maryland Extension Food Supplement Nutrition Education program (FSNE).  The curriculum was designed to help students increase their consumption of fruits and vegetables while creatively meeting Maryland State curriculum objectives through gardening, nutrition education, and tasting activities.  The Growing Healthy Habits curriculum was launched in Maryland 2010 and since then, more than 100 teachers have received hands-on training in curriculum use.  Additionally, more than 50 school gardens have been built for use with this curriculum.

While the curriculum was developed specifically for Maryland schools, it can easily be adapted for use in any part of the world.  In fact, it is currently being used in Ethopia and other areas across the U.S.
