About the Program: 

Grant High's GEO Environmental Science and Design Academy's mission is to teach youth how to create healthy and sustainable communities.

We engage students in unique and challenging educational opportunities that foster a sense of community and environmental stewardship. GEO Academy offers 9th-12th grade students outdoor learning and hands-on experiences in environmental horticulture, landscape architectural design, habitat restoration, “green” business, and environmental science monitoring through real world based projects. Academy students are prepared for 4 year universities and green collar careers concentrating in Environmental Science, Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Design, Community Nutrition and Green Business.

GEO Kitchen lessons teach high school and elementary aged youth about nutrition, healthy eating and seasonal cooking from the garden in addition to basic kitchen skills lessons including: food safety; knife skills and safety; familiarity with and use of cookware, tools  & appliances;  how to clean and maintain a clean and organized kitchen.

Twin Rivers Unified educates 31,000 youth from the diverse neighborhoods of North Sacramento.

The GEO Academy Salsa Business helps support programs and learning opportunities.
