The Gahanna Learning Garden program is an outreach project from The Ohio Herb Education Center (www.ohioherbcenter.org) Gahanna, Ohio is the Herb Capital of Ohio, receiving that title in 1972.   This garden program partners with local schools to incorporate gardens on school grounds, providing outdoor learning spaces for students.

Our first garden will be installed in the spring of 2014.  .  The garden will be planted with native plants as well as herbs.

This program is growing each day.  There are now 3 schools working with the Ohio Herb Education Center to have gardens installed, or have dilapadated gardens updated and utilized as a tool for education. Our focus is to get the children at whatever school we work at as excited and involved as we possibly can. Students will be involved not only in choosing the design, but also in installation and upkeep of the garden.

Each garden location will have its own unique features and style, making visiting all of the gardens a fun experience for members of the community.  Each garden will offer students the opportunity to learn about the environment, historical uses of plants, what can be made with plants, why plants and animals are so important, math in nature, and where their foods come from.
