About
We teach underserved children to cook wholesome & affordable meals because we believe that through our cooking classes we can help prevent childhood obesity and reverse the trend of generations of non-cookers, while celebrating our cultural differences.

Mission
The mission of Common Threads is to educate children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being and to foster an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking.

Company Overview
Common Threads focuses on improving the quality of life for children and families living in low-income and underserved communities by giving children the tools and knowledge they need to shape their own health decisions. In our hands-on cooking classes, children gather from inner-city communities to learn how to prepare simple, healthy ethnic meals using wholesome ingredients and fresh fruits and vegetables. Professional chef instructors and guest chefs from well-known local restaurants teach and mentor our students as they learn to connect with their bodies, their neighbors and their world in bite-sized lessons. We currently have programming in Chicago, Washington D.C., Miami, and Los Angles.

If you are interested in bringing Common Threads to your school or community please contact us at classes@commonthreads.org or (312) 329-2501.
