Fall Garden Club After School Program

This fall’s garden club was focused on making food, both in the kitchen classroom and in the garden’s outdoor kitchen. We harvested from the garden and made delicious treats to share and take home. Pesto kale and homemade applesauce are just a few examples of the delicious recipes we prepared. We worked in the garden to plant for the fall/winter season. We sowed and planted crops like carrots, peas, and cabbage. We also harvested, threshed, and winnowed grains like amaranth and quinoa. We harvested castings from our worm bin and shared stories of our favorite recipes to make at home, as well as vegetables and fruits we like to grow. Most of all, we enjoyed each other’s company and created new memories in the Edible Schoolyard.
